Since more families are selecting cremation, please allow us to briefly explain the types of services available:
Direct cremation with no viewing or services whatsoever.
A viewing for either just the family members or for friends and neighbors. This could be followed by a religious service at the funeral home or at a church of your choice.
A memorial service either at our funeral home or at a church of your choice. This could be preceded by a "memorial gathering" of family and friends, if so desired.
A graveside service at a cemetery of your choice.
Final Disposition of Ashes
The family can keep the cremation ashes at home. Many urns are available at our funeral home in a variety of materials and designs. An urn can be personalized with a variety of background scenes representing the life of the desceased.
The urn can be buried in a cemetery plot or a mausoleum niche. In some cases the urn can be placed over another member of their family already buried in a cemetery plot.
Scattering: Some families prefer to have the ashes scattered over water, over mountains or in a favorite place of the deceased. Since some local ordinances prohibit scattering of ashes, it is best to ask a funeral director for advice prior to to scattering. It is also advisable to check with your clergy, as some religions will permit cremation but not scattering of ashes.
Mini "Keepsake Urns" are available at our funeral home. This will allow part of the ashes to be retained by the family and the remainder to be buried or scattered. There is also a large selection of "Keepskae jewelry" available.
Please feel free to call us with any questions you might have. We can explain the choices in more detail including the costs involved.
Thank You!
